While frequently referred to as "benign essential tremor", ET may be quite disabling Patients with ET may be handicapped by the physical limitation or the social embarrassment caused by the tremor. Difficulties with handwriting, drinking liquids,
and
other fine manipulations are common complaints of patients with ET. At present, there is no biologic marker specific for the diagnosis of ET and diagnosis is based on its clinical manifestations.
